Four railway contract workers killed after express train hit them in Kerala

Four contract workers employed by the Railways were killed after being struck by an express train near Shornur in Kerala’s Palakkad district on Saturday.
The incident occurred around 3 pm when the Thiruvananthapuram-bound Kerala Express hit the sanitary workers while they were clearing garbage. The victims included two men and two women.
“The workers may not have noticed the approaching train, which resulted in the accident, but further investigations are underway,” said an officer from the Shornur Railway Police.
Three bodies were retrieved from the scene, and a search operation was launched to locate the fourth, which is suspected to have fallen into the nearby Bharathapuzha River.
