1957 Mercedes-Benz 190-Series roadster

I have for sale a beautiful 1957 Mercedes-Benz 190SL which was originally 040 Black but has since been resprayed sometime during its life. The car has been sitting for over 28 years and does not run. The paint has a nice shine but does show patina such has cracking and minor chips in areas. This car can be made to run and driven as is with a few minor cosmetic finishes to be done on the interior and of coarse overhauling the engine etc. The car is sitting on what appear to be original Michelin X tires.  This model is a roadster with only a hardtop. The seats are in beautiful condition, and the interior presents well. The car seems to be in very original and good shape for its age. There is no visible signs of rust holes or any areas that would be worry-some to my knowledge.
There is light surface corrosion in areas on the undercarriage. I cannot open the trunk as I do not have keys for the car. you can clearly see from underneath that the car is very solid. There is a sign of water damage in the gauge cluster. The title is branded rebuild and my guess is that at some point in time the previous owner claimed it through insurance. The car last drove in 1995.
The 1957 190SL aka baby gull-wing is a fantastic looking car with excellent body lines and curves. If you are planning on doing a full on restoration 040 black is a very desirable color for this car so this will be the perfect starter car. The Vehicle is located in Homerglen, IL.
